Dancing With The Athens' Stars

That’s right – it’s almost that time again.  Wait – you don’t know what Dancing with the Athens’ Stars is?  Well, I’ll tell you!  DWTAS is an annual fundraising even presented by Project Safe. 100% of all monies is donated to Project Safe and their cause – ending domestic violence through crisis intervention, ongoing supportive services, systems change advocacy and prevention and education in the community. It’s a pretty big to do, and whole lot of awesomeness!

I was contacted this year to help create a logo that could be used yearly – something that would stand the test of time and be easily recognizable. I was also asked to create their first marketing piece of the year – a Save The Date card with the function information and dancer’s numbers.  You can start donating/voting now!

So, it’s that time of year again when every graphic designer hopes they are on someone’s nice list … especially if the nice list comes with some amazing Apple products or some toys.

I think I’m going to put myself on my own nice list and see what I buy myself for Christmas this year! (it’s been known to happen).

No news is good news, right? wrong! no news would be very very bad for business. so here’s something new(s). I’ve been given the opportunity to work with Project Safe developing their logo and marketing materials for the 2011 Dancing With the Athens’ Stars event. I’m so honored and I’m certainly excited about being a part of such a charitable project and organization. Be on the lookout on my website for their Save The Date Card and logo design. Your Friendly Graphic Designer is doing her civic duty this month … TWICE!

That’s right. I voted, November 2 – did you? I sure hope so! I also have jury duty on the 8th.  I probably won’t get chosen, but if I do, I’ll keep you posted as my schedule will become null and void during that time.

ALSO – It’s TURKEY DAY! If you know me, at all, you know I loves me some TURKEY DAY! This month, I’ll be spending the week in Florida with my family, eating, napping and eating and napping… what are your TURKEY DAY plans?

So, there’s some big news, small news, good news and bad news this month. BIG news – I’ve got an amazing opportunity to work on some seriously geeky projects from websites to publications to merchandise – I’m so excited about this I cannot wait! I’ll keep you all posted as things come together so you can join in the nerdery with me! SMALL news – that website I hipped you to last month, www.silverlinkingcupcakeco.com – is up and running and so is the shop – and let me tell you – DELICIOUS! If you’re in the Athens area and you have a sweet tooth, check them out! BAD news – with the oncoming rush of geeky projects, I’m going to have to remove myself from a few clients/projects… My heart is saddened by this, but the conflicting schedule is going to be to much for this one wo(man) show to handle. I’ll be sending out letters at the end of this month notifying you of when my last day as your friendly graphic designer will be. GOOD news – rest assured, even though I may not be handling your design personally, I will still be available for any branding or marketing advise you may need – AND I can recommend you to a fabulous designer who works with me from time to time, should you need a replacement!

Silver Lining Cupcake Co.

I couldn’t be more excited about this project … I know I say that a lot, but… CUPCAKES!!!!!!!

Silver Lining Cupcake Company is opening up in Athens, GA VERY soon and I’ve been baking up some magic of my own – with their website that is! Design inspirations from their downtown Athens location and modern day cupcake haven have just been rolling in and now it’s time to roll it out.  Check them out online at www.silverliningcupcakeco.com – we’re still prepping the ingredients, but we should be cooling soon!

Your Friendly Graphic Designer is Getting SPOOKY!

So, Halloween is right around the corner, and you know, my favorite thing is a good scare. To celebrate this, I’m heading to Florida for a week at the beginning of October to attend the Spooky Empire convention and get my Horror on!

Don’t be too frightened, I will be bringing some work with me, but you have to reserve your time ASAP. I have limited work time while traveling, and even more limited travel drive memory, so be sure to email me ASAP if you want me to bring your files on my spooky adventure … I promise I’ll haunt your designs with due diligence.  HA!

We’re beginning to wrap up the year so my traveling schedule is getting crazier and crazier. Not to fear – I’m still plugging away on your projects old and new. Speaking of new… do you like cupcakes? I sure do!!! Check this out … there is a new cupcake company opening up in Athens, GA and I’ve had the great honor of designing the website!  Silver Lining Cupcake Co. is coming to a tastebud near you … or at least near me!!! Cupcakes for all events for everyone.  The website isn’t online yet – but when keep your eyes open for it coming VERY soon – www.silverliningcupcakeco.com. The design style is reminiscent of historic Athens with a modern flair and I couldn’t be happier to be the one they chose to bring their vision to life. ALSO -  I cannot wait to step foot into the store, smell the cupcakes baking, and taste test every flavor they’ll let me get my chubby little fingers on.
